| Web Links | Contact |Share Your Life—Give of Yourself!As an organization made up of business and professional leaders, Rotary International has the opportunity to take a leadership role in raising the awareness of Americans about the importance of organ & tissue donation through the Share Your Life donor education program. Almost 80,000 patients are on the national waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant. Every 14 minutes, another name gets added and every day, 17 people are removed from the list due to death. About 23,000 transplants are performed each year, but only about 6,000 people become organ donors after death. That is not nearly enough to meet the demand. The solution—massive education and action in the Share Your
Life program. It involves every Rotary Club making a commitment
to help. Each club is challenged to get as many people as possible
to join the national donor registry and talk about donation with
their families. |
