Donor Registry of Tennessee Primary purpose is to support all 58 Organ Procurement Organizations (OPO) throughout the United States. Adding more organ, tissue and eye donors to their respective organ donor registries.

The Meredith Story


Rotarian Tom Meredith, a native of Cleveland, Ohio moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1979 with his wife Barbara and young sons Tommy and David. Tommy and David graduated from Father Ryan High School and Middle Tennessee State University with honors.

October 1990 - Tommy died in a vehicle accident and became an organ donor.

David Meredith

February 1991 - David died in a vehicle accident and became an organ donor.

1991 - Barbara went on dialysis and on the UNOS waiting list for a kidney.


1993 - Barbara received kidney transplant from a deceased donor.


1996 - Her transplant was successful, and she was able to enjoy 25 months of healthy life before succumbing to medical complications.


As a result of the Meredith family's decision for their sons to be organ and tissue donors, 97 people benefited from their unselfish and wonderful Gift of Life by extending life and enhancing life. Tom is now happily married to Mary Weber and resides in Brentwood, Tennessee.


Tom is a Rotarian and almost a full time volunteer for Tennessee Donor Service and Share Your Life (The Rotary Organ Tissue Donor Program.
